What is Community Emergency Response Team?

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) participants will learn about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact Syracuse City and Antelope Island State Park. The training format combines classroom sessions and hands-on exercises in:

  • Disaster Medical Operations
  • Emergency Medical Response
  • Fire Safety
  • Light Search and Rescue
  • Scene Assessment
  • Team Organization

Participants are also trained in basic disaster response skills and will be equipped to assist others following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. Program graduates are also encouraged to take a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
